是時,諸佛即與法慧菩薩無礙智、無著智、無斷智、無癡智、無異智、無失智、無量智、無勝智、無懈智、無奪智、。何以故?此三昧力,法如是故。是時,諸佛各伸右手,摩法慧菩薩頂。法慧菩薩即從定起,告諸菩薩言:佛子!菩薩住處廣大,與法界虛空等。佛子!菩薩住三世諸佛家,彼菩薩住,我今當說。諸佛子!菩薩住有十種,過去、未來、現在諸佛,已說、當說、今說。何者為十?所謂:初發心住、治地住、修行住、生貴住、具足方便住,正心住、不退住、童真住、法王子住、灌頂住。是名菩薩十住,去、來、現在諸佛所說。
At that moment, all Buddhas conferred Fa-hui Bodhisattva with unhindered wisdom( four abilities of unhindered understanding and expression); unattached wisdom(preaching efficiently without hesitation); uninterrupted wisdom(preaching constantly); undeluded wisdom(preaching eloquently with clear mind in Noumenon(理)and Phenomenon(事) ); non-differentiating wisdom( preaching precisely in accordance with verified times and roots); unerring wisdom(preaching without mistakes); limitless wisdom( preaching with abundant material and content); the supreme wisdom; non-negligent wisdom(preaching without fatigue); and invulnerable wisdom. Why is this? This is by means of the power of Samadhi, and Dharma is that way. At the same time, each of the Buddhas reaches out his right hand and rubs onto the top of Fa-hui Bodhisattva’s head. Fa-hui Bodhisattva then arose from the state of Samadhi and preaches to all the bodhisattvas, “Disciples! Places bodhisattvas abide in are as vast and great as Dharma Realm or infinite space. Disciples!Bodhisattvas all abide in the places where Buddhas of the three periods of time abide. I will now tell where these places are. Disciples! There are ten abodes Buddhas of the past, future, and present have discussed, will discuss, and now are discussing. What are these ten? They are : The abode of the first developing determination(初發心住)[1], the abode of cultivating mind-ground(治地住), the abode of practice(修行住), the abode of producing noble wisdom(生貴住), the abode of equipping with perfect expediency(具足方便住), the abode of correct and stable mind(正心住), the abode of non-retrogression(不退住), the abode of innocent child(童真住), the abode of Dharma Prince(法王子住), and the abode of abhiseka灌頂住)[2]. These are the names of a bodhisattva’s ten abodes, which are told by Buddhas of the past, the future, and the present.”
[1] Bodhisattvas before this stage have completed the Ten-belief practice, reaching non-retrogression. As the beginning of the Ten-above practice, bodhisattvas aim to abide in the arousal of Bodhi Mind.
[2] Sprinkling water on the head as the certificate that one bodhisattva is capable of being a candidate Buddha.
