Ten Abodes 十住品 part7

  佛子!云何為菩薩具足方便住?此菩薩所修善根,皆為救護一切眾生,饒益一切眾生,安樂一切眾生,哀愍一切眾生,度脫一切眾生,令一切眾生離諸災難,令一切眾生出生死苦,令一切眾生發生淨信,令一切眾生悉得調伏,令一切眾生咸證涅槃。佛子!此菩薩應勸學十法。何者為十?所謂:知眾生無邊、知眾生無量、知眾生無數、知眾生不思議、知眾生無量色、知眾生不可量、知眾生空、知眾生無所作、知眾生無所有、知眾生無自性。何以故?欲令其心轉復增勝,無所染著:有聞所法,即自開解,不由他教故。
  “Disciples! What is meant by the bodhisattva’s abode of equipping with perfect expediency? All the good roots this bodhisattva has cultivated are used to save and guard all sentient beings; to benefit all sentient beings; to make all sentient beings happy; to pity all sentient being indulging in happiness; to help all sentient beings to liberate; to make all sentient beings be free from all disasters; to make all sentient beings leave the sufferings of birth and death; to make all sentient beings generate pure belief; to make all sentient beings be cultivated; and to make all sentient beings attain nirvana.” “Disciples! This bodhisattva should be encouraged to learn ten kinds of Dharmas. What are those ten? They are: Knowing sentient beings are boundless, knowing sentient beings are infinite; knowing sentient beings are countless; knowing sentient beings are incredible; knowing sentient beings’ forms are limitless; knowing sentient beings are immeasurable; knowing sentient beings are empty; knowing sentient beings are non-active; knowing sentient beings are not existent; and knowing sentient beings have no self-nature. What is the reason? To turn and advance a bodhisattva’s mind into an uncontaminated one without attachment and spontaneously understand whatever preaching heard without depending on another’s instruction.”
