Ten Abodes 十住品 part9

  子!云何為菩薩不退住?此菩薩聞十種法,堅固不退。何者為十?所謂:聞有佛、無佛,於佛法中,心不退轉;聞有法、無法,於佛法中,心不退轉;聞有菩薩、無菩薩,於佛法中,心不退轉;聞有菩薩行、無菩薩行,於佛法中,心不退轉;聞有菩薩修行出離、修行不出離,於佛法中,心不退轉;聞過去有佛、過去無佛,於佛法中,心不退轉;聞未來有佛、未來無佛,於佛法中,心不退轉;聞現在有佛、現在無佛,於佛法中,心不退轉;聞佛智有盡、佛智無盡,於佛法中,心不退轉;聞三世一相、三世非一相,於佛法中,心不退轉。是為十。佛子!此菩薩應勸學十種廣大法。何者為十?所謂:說一即多、說多即一、文隨於義、義隨於文、非有即有、有即非有、無相即相、相即無相、無性即性、性即無性。何以故?欲令增進,於一切法善能出離;有所聞法,即自開解,不由他教故。
  “Disciples! What is meant by the bodhisattva’s abode of non-retrogression? This bodhisattva is steadfast and non-retrogressive when hearing the ten kinds of Dharmas. What are these ten? They are: hearing whether Buddhas exist or not, the mind doesn’t retrogress in Buddhas’ teaching; hearing whether Dharma exists or not, the mind doesn’t retrogress in Buddhas’ teaching; hearing whether bodhisattvas exist or not, the mind doesn’t retrogress in Buddhas’ teaching; hearing whether there are practices of bodhisattvas or not, the mind doesn’t retrogress in Buddhas’ teaching;hearing whether bodhisattvas attain emancipation through practice or not, the mind doesn’t retrogress in Buddhas’ teaching; hearing whether Buddhas existed or not in the past, the mind doesn’t retrogress in Buddhas’ teaching; hearing whether Buddha will exist or not in the future, the mind doesn’t retrogress in Buddhas’ teaching; hearing whether Buddhas is now existing or not right now, the mind doesn’t retrogress in Buddhas’ teaching; hearing whether Buddha’s wisdom is finite or not, the mind doesn’t retrogress in Buddhas’ teaching; and hearing whether the tree periods of time are one single mark or not, the mind doesn’t retrogress in Buddhas’ teaching. These are the ten.” “Disciples! This bodhisattva should be encouraged to learn ten kinds of extensive Dharmas. What are those ten? They are: preaching one equals to many, which means one Buddha preaches by means of numerous Dharmas; preaching many equals to one, which means massive expedient methods preached are all the ways to the ultimate goal—attaining enlightenment; literary expression follows with diverse meanings; diverse meanings follow with literary expression; non-existence is existence; existence is non-existence; marks are no marks; no marks are marks; nature is natureless; naturelessness is nature. What is the reason? To get improvement, to be able to emancipate well from all Dharmas and spontaneously understand whatever preaching heard without depending on another’s instruction.”
